Safety and privacy
How we keep teens safe, who sees what, and who to call.
In an emergency
In danger right now? Call 911. Thinking about hurting yourself, or worried about someone who is? Call or text 988.
Report abuse or neglect
Anyone in Texas who thinks a child is being abused or neglected must report it to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
If a child is in danger right now, call 911 first.
Two adults, always
- Two screened adults at every session.
- Two adults on every ride, including the first pickup and the last drop-off.
- No adult is ever alone with one teen.
- Each crew has a named primary lead and a named backup lead, both 30 or older.
- Leads pass a background check and Heirith certification. Helpers, 21 or older, pass a fingerprint check and abuse-awareness training.
Messages
Every message between adults and teens is in a group thread that Heirith staff can see. There are no private messages, and adults do not share personal phone numbers or social media with teens.
Who sees what
What a parent or guardian sees depends on the teen's age.
- Ages 14–15
- You are in your teen's message threads, and you see their session notes and their Vault.
- Ages 16–17
- You see that a thread exists and when it was last active. Your teen decides what else to share.
- Age 18
- Parent or guardian access ends. Whoever pays still sees payment details.
Sponsors and partners see totals only, never a teen's name, photo, town or school.
I'm worried
Worried about a teen, an adult or anything at Heirith? Tell your crew lead, the backup lead or any Heirith staff member. A trained safety lead reads every concern.
The online concern form is not open yet. Until it is, use the people and numbers on this page.
If it can't wait, call 911 or 988 now.
Heirith is not a school
Heirith is a community program. We are not a school, and we receive no education records. A school can be a partner, but Heirith never needs one.
